**Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role**

We’re going through a huge growth phase here at Contact and we are on a transformation journey to work smarter not harder by focusing on the projects that really matter and will help execute our strategy.

We’re establishing a concept engineering function within our Generation & Trading business unit (whoop, whoop) to help us execute our strategy, deliver key metrics and highlight any roadblocks that might be getting in the way of our ability to deliver on our strategy.

Concept Engineers will sit in our Projects and Performance team alongside our Project Delivery, Performance and Optimisation engineers who support or lead the maturation of various engineering projects from risk mitigation through to upside value creation.

As a Senior Concept Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering front end engineering through a range of disciplines and be the first point of contact for project opportunities in their maturation cycle. You’ll focus on the early phases of a project, i.e., from identify, assess, concept select to define phase and support, then handover to our Project Delivery team to execute. At times, you’ll need to wear a Project Manager hat and be the lead for pre execution and Final Investment Decision (FID) delivery of integrated opportunities.

Some of the tasks you’ll be doing are;
- Provide cost competitive, and credible technical solutions required to realise the full value of an opportunity, documented to concept design.
- Be responsible for maturation of the selected concept into a Basis for Design and will support the development of Project execution along with contracting and procurement strategies.
- Obtain commitment from the integrated team/ squad, contribute to continuous improvement and agile and scaled processes, and build strong networks.

**Qualifications**

**Ko wai koe | About you**

Ideally you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Process, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. You’ll need to have solid experience in process engineering, project management or front end engineering.

This role deals with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, you’ll need to be an enthusiastic individual good at communicating and building effective working relationships. There will be times when you have to take the lead on projects so you’ll need to be comfortable taking charge.
