**He kōrero mō mātou - About us**
Mind and Body is part of the Emerge Aotearoa Trust Group - a committed Tangata Tiriti organisation and a national provider of mental health, addiction, disability, offender rehabilitation, well-being, and housing services. The core values of the organisation are based on Māori concepts Whakawhanaunga, Manaakitanga, Ako and Whakamana.
Mind and Body provides values-based peer led services across Aotearoa. We use our own, personal lived experience of recovery from mental distress to nurture hope and self-determination and inspire the people we support to use their personal power to move towards the life they want for themselves.
**He kōrero mō te tūranga - The role**
The Piki Peer Support service works with young people 18-25 years across the Wellington, Kapiti, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa Regions. Piki offers free access to trained Peer Support Workers with personalised access to Peer Support at a convenient place and time.
As a Peer Support Worker, you will connect with Rangatahi/youth and their whanau within the Wellington Region area. You will utilise your personal lived experience of mental distress and/or addiction and recovery to inspire Rangatahi in their journey to wellbeing. This role is a casual role, which offers flexibility for yourself, and depending on the peers needs.
**He kōrero mōu - About you**
You'll bring your own knowledge of mental health and substance-use challenges to the role, and we ask that you tell us about your journey in your cover letter.
- It is desirable to have either a Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent. If you do not have these, you must be willing to work towards completing this and we will support you to do so
- Experience working effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, especially Māori and Pasifika communities and their whanau
- Skilled in facilitating groups or has a passion to learn
- Be a positive and encouraging person with a good sense of humour, and the ability to role model how to move forward in a journey to wellbeing
- Hold a full NZ Drivers License
**Ko tā mātou mahi - We offer**
You won't just be joining a team but an amazing whanau here at Mind & Body. You will have an experienced, humorous, supportive service manager, who is dedicated to developing you into your next step. With Emerge being a national organisation this is easily accomplished.
**Other benefits include the following**:
- Opportunity for professional development and growth within a national organisation
- Ongoing training opportunities
- One to one coaching/supervision and group supervision
- The ability to maintain a great work/life balance with the ability to work flexible hours.
**Me pēhea te tono mai - How to apply**
If you are interested in joining an organisation that is passionate about making a positive difference in your community, we would love to hear from you.
Please include a cover letter describing what you have learnt from your personal experience of living with mental distress and or addiction and your journey to wellbeing. What value has it added in your life? We encourage people from diverse backgrounds to apply.
