**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Health Analytics business unit exists to provide health analytics and insights which support planning and delivery of better, more equitable health services.
In this role, your primary purpose will be to give expert advice and thought leadership to support the Special Initiatives team, Health Analytics business unit, the wider Service Improvement and Innovation directorate and Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, to collectively contribute to the strategic health outcomes outlined in the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 20221, and the Te Pae Tata the NZ Health Plan.
This role works with our full range of national datasets, from maternity to aged residential care. You will have a focus on planning and operational monitoring of hospital and community services, with clients across the People & Communications, Commissioning and Hospital & Health Services directorates.
On a day to day basis, you will lead the development of new reports, reporting systems, and models of services and health outcomes, lead analytical projects across all health services, develop and publish dashboards in PowerBI, and maintain the main analytics environment using R and SQL databases. You will be an expert point of contact for understanding the range of data used by Health New Zealand.
**This role is internal and open to existing Te Whatu Ora or Te Aka Whai Ora employees only.**
**To be successful in this role you must either currently be living in Wellington, or be willing to relocate.**
**Mōu | About you**
You will be experienced analyst, with strong networks across the health sector that will give you a keen insight into what is important for lifting the effectiveness of health services.
Your experience in working with health sector data is backed by tertiary qualifications in epidemiology, population health, or health economics.
Strong communications and team leadership skills are essential, as well as experience in working with senior leaders across the health sector and beyond.

- A relevant tertiary qualification(s) with significant quantitative content
- Advanced skills in policy modelling and data management
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and in plain language with a range of audiences.
- Excellent analytical, research, economic and policy skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate new information.
