Mō te tūnga | About the role
The SCI Supervisor is responsible for the effective management of a team of Specialist Child Interviewers to ensure the efficient delivery of Specialist Child Interviews in accordance with the Oranga Tamariki and police guidelines. They will also ensure that the services and resources are managed in accordance with the Oranga Tamariki Act, the State Sector Act 1988 and other relevant legislations.
The supervisor will provide social work supervision, specialist child interviews and peer review with a specific lens on interview practice and the maintaining of accreditation standards.
The SCI Supervisor interviews tamariki and rangatahi in accordance with the Evidence Act 2006 and the Evidence Regulations (videotaping of child complainants) 2007 to enable tamariki statements to be admissible as their evidence in court.
This role covers the two Specialist Child Interview Teams, based at the two multi agency centres in Tamaki Makaurau which are Te Puawaitahi (in Grafton) and Te Pou Herenga Waka, (in Manukau).
Travel between these two locations, as well as across Oranga Tamariki sites in Tamaki Makaurau, will be required however the successful applicant will be able to negotiate either the Grafton or Manukau location to be their "home site".

**Key requirements of the role include**:

- Full registration with New Zealand's Social Work Registration Board (SWRB)
- A social work qualification recognised by the SWRB
- Completed L3 child interviewing training
- SCI Accreditation achieved
- Knowledge and / or experience of Oranga Tamariki Practice Framework, 7AA commitments and other relevant documents
- Proven successful experience in delivering quality Specialist Child Interviews
- Demonstrated ability to motivate kaimahi in initiatives for improving performance
- Sound knowledge of child development, disability and trauma presentations of tamariki
- Leadership and support of Specialist Child Witness Interviewers would be an advantage in this role
- Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative relationships with Oranga Tamariki sites, Police Child Protection Teams, and other stakeholders
- A sound knowledge of relevant legislation specific to Specialist Child Interviews
