The Data Scientist is a position in the Data Operations Team.
The Data Scientist contributes to the operations of the Data Operations Team. The team is responsible for developing robust repeatable patterns for data ingestion, transformation, storage and use for all data collected on MBIE’s behalf.

**The Data Scientist will use their technical expertise to**:

- Source and integrate information and data for use in data interrogation techniques such as data mining and advanced analytics;
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop, test, maintain and continuously improve analytical and statistical models;
- Identify new analytical techniques and tools to enhance the risk management and service delivery identification and targeting;
- Share expertise and learnings, mentor and guide team members, Data Operations staff, and international counterparts.
- Lead strategic data and analytics initiatives within broader MBIE by providing specialist expertise and championing initiatives as appropriate

The Data Scientist is responsible for ensuring quality and consistency of advice and practices in relation to their contribution to the team’s work.
