Mātau rōpū ake | About our group

Te Pae Aronui was established as part of a wider change to provide the education sector with support and services that are more locally responsive, more accessible, and more integrated.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
The Sensitive Claims Māori team is a newly established team within the wider sensitive claims team, which runs the dispute resolution process to support the resolution of abuse claims lodged against the Ministry.
This new team will have a particular focus on providing a pathway for Māori claimants and their whānau that is grounded in ngā ahuatanga o Rongo.
The Senior Advisor will work alongside external experts to support the development and delivery of the pathway for Māori claimants, and once established, be responsible for managing claims and supporting claimants throughout the process.

Mōhou ake | About you
We are looking for people to join the team who understand the values of tika, pono and aroha.
We work in a space that is exposed to the mamae of claimants and their whānau, so you need to be able to build strong relationships based on trust, have compassion and empathy, while also having the ability to navigate the Machinery of Government.
The salary band for this role is $92,598 - $113,175 depending on skills and experience of the applicant.

To be successful in this role you will also offer the following:

- Experience supporting the facilitations of or facilitating wānanga and external hui.
- The ability to engage with claimants and their whānau in an appropriate way that demonstrates manaaki.
- Experience managing end-to-end processes.
- Proficiency in te Reo Māori
- Comprehensive understanding of te ao Māori and tikanga Māori.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues.
- Builds trust and maintains excellent working relationships.
- Provides high quality communications with all external and internal parties.
- Exercises good strategic judgement and tact.
- Manages difficult and sensitive discussions with empathy and aroha, while appreciating the limits of the process.
- Works to ensure an efficient process can be delivered.
- Can maintain workflows and databases.
- Takes responsibility to ensure appropriate files are maintained, including full and accurate documentation with clear audit trails.
- Appreciates the highly sensitive and personal nature of claims information and manages such material accordingly.
- Prepares high quality briefings and responses to information requests, as required.
