The Opportunity

The main purpose of the Special Projects Supervisor is to oversee the works involved in Minor Projects, and extra ordinary testing that is undertaken by the Auckland regions lab departments.

These responsibilities can be extended through delegation from the Department / Divisional Manager. Change or extension of responsibilities will be discussed and agreed.

On a day-to-day basis you’ll:

- Planning for the future (1-3 months timeframe)
- Time management and prepared for situations.
- Lead through clear work instructions and monitoring
- Provides timely, constructive feedback and on-the-job training.
- Coordinates activities
- Contributes to meetings, deals openly and honestly with issues, constructively resolves conflicts.
- Clearly communicates information face-to-face or over phone / radio-telephone.
- Encourage participation by laboratory employees in work scheduling, problem-solving and hazard identification, and management.
- Identifies and communicates potential and existing problems to internal management, client, and other stakeholders.
- Maintains relationships with clients, subcontractors, and Fulton Hogan employees, based on honesty and delivering on promises, together with positive and friendly style.
- Equipment selection - determining the tools and equipment needed to do the job.
- Equipment running and troubleshooting.
- Reads specifications & implementation of new standards into the Laboratory.
- Develops and flexibly adapts plans to meet business needs.
- Interested in helping others develop skills.
- Resilience - able to put in effort over long periods of time, and cope with pressure.
- Make extra effort to help others.
- Well-prepared for tasks
- Follow instructions, plans and schedules independent of direct oversight.
- Independently complete simple troubleshooting.
- Asks questions, shares ideas, suggestions, and feelings.

Who we are looking for:

- Cert 4. In Lab Practices or relevant industry certifications
- Safety-related Certification
- IANZ Signatory/KTP Status for required testing
- Estimating material and worker requirements
- Drivers license, preferably class 2(Light/Heavy vehicles)
- Wide knowledge on materials testing
- Well-prepared for tasks
- Hold a current ConstructSafe Card
- Health and Safety focus
