**Job Overview**:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Data Platform Manager. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities in managing a team of data professionals.The Group Data Platform Manager is responsible for the operational support, maintenance and stability of our Modern Data Platform, which includes our Data Lakehouse, data warehouse(s), operational data repositories, and associated data platform resources.
What you’ll bring
- Ability to manage a busy operational environment, with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to manage complex issues of diverse scope where analysis and arbitrage are required for resolution.
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Demonstrated experience in managing people and teams, financial management, budget tracking and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

**Operational Management**:

- Lead the production lifecycle and CICD environment in Azure, and co-ordinate BAU tasks, incidents, requests and manage a priority backlog.
- Ensure the environment is available, accessible, performance and cost efficient, whilst supporting the requirements of the platform users.

**Team Management**:

- Provide leadership and direction to a small team of data engineers.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, promoting continuous learning and development.
- Conduct regular performance assessments, mentorship, and coaching for team members.

**Data Management & Governance**:

- Collaborate with data architect/s to support implementation of an effective and efficient data management platform.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security across the platform.
- Enhancing and developing existing data policies and working with the broader team to cleanse and govern data where practical and possible.

**Data Integration and Development**:

- Support the development and maintenance of efficient data integration processes, ETL pipelines, and data workflows.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement effective solutions.
- Implementing and supporting data management policy and standards for data usage, movement, collection, consolidation, interpretation, and security.
- Implementing data management policies for risk mitigation purposes.
- Drive the implementation of data management and governance frameworks.

**Performance Monitoring and Optimization**:

- Implement robust monitoring systems to proactively identify and address performance issues.
- Optimize database and query performance for efficient data retrieval and processing.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
- Proven 10+ years of experience in hands-on data platform operational management and support.
- Strong expertise in modern data platform tools and technologies, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure data environment management tools, ADF and associated ETL management tools, etc.
- Previous experience managing and leading a team of data professionals.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
