Christchurch, New Zealand Mechanixgarage Limited Full time

Maintain, test, and repair petrol engines and the mechanical parts of lightweight motor vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering, and brakes.
- Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts.
- Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components, and check parts.
- Repair and replace worn and defective parts, reassemble mechanical components, and refer to service manuals as needed.
- Perform scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations.
- Reassemble engines and parts after repair.
- Test and adjust mechanical parts after repair for proper performance.
- Diagnose and test parts with the assistance of computers.
- Respond to vehicle breakdown service calls.
- Interact with customers to understand their vehicle issues and provide solutions.

**Requirements**:

- Certificate in Automotive Engineering (Level 4) OR at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A "can-do" attitude with an eye for detail.
- Clean non-criminal record.
