We are looking a Technical Lead to join the Identity Services team in the Verification and Compliance branch of Immigration New Zealand, based in central Wellington.

The Verification and Compliance branch sits within Immigration New Zealand, a business group within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. We develop and provide products and services that support quality decisions throughout the organisation, ensuring that risk is managed at the earliest point in the immigration process.

This role is critical in enhancing the organisational embeddedness of identity management systems and maintaining trust in our implementation of facial recognition and other biometric modalities.

**The key responsibilities of the role include**:

- Delivers business and advisory services to the National Manager and wider leadership team in order to strengthen the overall capability of the unit
- Provides, where necessary, mentorship, training and support of identity management staff to develop their knowledge and capabilities
- Represents INZ in the development of key ICT projects
- Works across Immigration New Zealand Branches and with all relevant projects
- Builds and maintains productive relationships and partnerships with internal stakeholders, as necessary, in order to identify opportunities for innovation within the unit
- Critically synthesises information from a wide variety of domains, using expert knowledge of identity management to deliver advice
- Engages with key internal and external stakeholders, including international partners
- Communicates complex issues and concepts clearly and succinctly

- A tertiary qualification AND/OR experience in identity management
- Demonstrated technical leadership OR documented potential for technical leadership
- In-depth understanding and experience with INZ's identity management systems/comparable environment, capabilities and processes; in particular the use of biometrics
- In-depth knowledge of and experience across the whole of INZ’s business
- Strategic thinking; can identify and assess organisational risk, long term potential outcomes and anticipate consequences and trends
- Demonstrate the ability to be able to analyse processes, diagnose and troubleshoot bottlenecks
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal - with the ability to tailor to people at all levels, both internal and external to MBIE
