Analyst - Enhanced Due Diligence

Job Overview & Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Enhanced Due Diligence Analyst position is to investigate, review and complete customer due diligence records to aide in the detection of possible money laundering, terrorist financing and fraud using risk-based approach methods while ensuring compliance with the Bank's established Anti-Money Laundering & Countering Financing of Terrorism Programmes.
The Enhanced Due Diligence Analyst position supports the Manager of Enhanced Due Diligence to handle all of Rabobank New Zealand’s first line responsibilities (1LoR) in the review, maintenance, administration and completion of various compliance activities including:
- Initial and ongoing KYC/CDD (Know Your Customer/Customer Due Diligence) requirements for customers with an elevated risk who cannot be mitigated through standard ways of workings
- Initial and ongoing KYC/CDD requirements for customers who qualify for Simplified Due Diligence
- Initial and ongoing KYC/CDD requirements for customers who require Enhanced Due Diligence
- Automated and Manual name screening of customers and their related parties
- Automated and Manual name screening of vendors
- International and local regulatory requirements including, but not limited to the United States Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Common Reporting Standards (CRS)
Context of Job:
The Enhanced Due Diligence Analyst position is responsible for the KYC/CDD services provided, which are to be carried out in an accurate, timely and efficient manner whilst maintaining high standards and contributing to a high level of client satisfaction. The position must ensure that Operational efficiencies across the KYC/CDD process are met throughout the customer lifecycle as well as to ensure that Rabobank New Zealand is compliant across all other regulatory facets.
In Partnership with the business, Operations contributes to the sustainable profitability of Rabobank by providing quality, controlled, efficient and professional friendly services at all points of contact and through the lifecycle of the client.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Review KYC/CDD submissions from Rural branches, ROS and MAC to ensure complete documentation is provided to meet the Banks Regulatory Obligations - including but not limited to the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009
- Ensure the timely and accurate investigation, review and completion Enhanced Due Diligence of High Risk customers
- Ensure the timely and accurate investigation, review and completion of additional measures on customers with an elevated risk indicator
- Ensure the timely and accurate investigation, review and completion of all customers that qualify for Simplified Due Diligence
- Ensure the timely and accurate investigation, review and completion of name Screening alerts for Rabobank New Zealand Customers including Impact Assessments
- Ensure the timely and accurate investigation, review and completion of name Screening alerts for Rabobank New Zealand Vendors including Impact Assessments
- Leveraging critical thinking and analytical assessment to ensure all conclusions and rationale to support decisions are clearly and concisely documented in the appropriate systems
- Ensuring that the standards are maintained and customer details are legally accurate and complete as per the legal documentation
- Identifies and escalates potentially suspicious activity in accordance with internal procedures
- Review and update FATCA statuses where required to ensure Rabobank New Zealand complies with the FATCA obligations to identify and report on clients who have a US tax obligation
- Review and update CRS statuses where required
- Respond to inquiries from peers, front-line and management regarding KYC/CDD matters, when appropriate
- Adhere to all designated time frames, manage workflow to the specified deadlines and complete responsibilities in a satisfactory manner
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize several initiatives and assignments on the go
- Contribute to and support efforts to achieve department/business unit goals, including recommendations to change policy and procedures resulting from review findings
- Assist with additional duties such as special projects, time driven deliverables, and customer escalation
- Provide a high level of customer service for clients and key stakeholders when requesting information or documentation and addressing concerns or findings
- Assist with the preparation of departmental Management information reports where required
- Have a continuous improvement mindset and to contribute ideas to further improve or streamline the KYC processes
- Upskill and share knowledge where required
- Adhere to the relevant government regulations and the Bank's internal guidelines and policies at all times
- Perform any other assignments as directed by Manager
