A public sector organisation is responsible for supporting and providing services that impact many New Zealanders' lives.

**Your new role**

Working as a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be working with a larger team who support the middleware space and support multiple environments with monitoring and resolving issues, creating and building environments, providing operational input to the CI Servers and designing of the CI solutions that are providing support to a planned move from on-prem to cloud.
- IT Environments Management that contributes to improving the overall quality of IT software development and support through the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Ensuring all environments are available, maintained, refreshed and supported. Service issues are resolved as required.
- Taking the lead in liaison with projects around environment requirements, design, build and availability.
- Having operational input into the architecture and design of the CI solutions (Jenkins, Ansible or any associated toolsets).
- Management and configuration of CI servers including configuration of template CI jobs, documentation, static analysis and reporting.
- Monitoring and resolving environment and build related failures. Conducting failure analysis. Raising escalations and working with development through to resolution.
- Conducting the creation, build and management of development, test, and preproduction environments.
- Providing reports on usage/utilisation, availability, forward planning and schedules.
- Working with various IS teams to ensure the right hardware, software and configuration is in place to support effective development, testing and release activities.
- Assisting in the maintenance of third-party toolsets used by IS.
- Deputising for Systems Team Leader where required.
- Performing other duties as required from time to time as directed by the Team Leader Systems.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- To have experience of liaising with vendors and contractors.
- To have the ability to analyse key business requirements and work to formulate and deliver appropriate solutions around set time frame and dependencies.
- To have 5+ years of relevant technical experience.
- To have strong skills in managing Windows and Linux server operating systems and virtualisation technologies.
- To have excellent skills in technical writing and developing documentation.
