Now We operate with a sense of urgency and discipline JOB PURPOSEThe Maintenance Assistant carries out maintenance and engineering duties to maintain all facilities in
the best possible condition under the general direction and guidance of the Chief Engineer and the
Hotel Manager and within the limits of established Hotel and local policies and procedures in an
optimum and efficient manner and responsible for looking after our customers - both internal and
external to meet our Company Vision and Mission. RESPONSIBILITIESPeople and quality
- Carry out assigned tasks by management, including physical duties such as; lifting and
transporting furniture and other equipment, climbing ladders, working in enclosed areas or any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer/ Hotel Manager.
- Comply with all systems and procedures as laid down by the Chief Engineer and the hotel
management
- Maintains the building and plant properly and efficiently by following the guidelines in all
Maintenance and Policy manuals.
- To be responsible for the investigation and completion of general maintenance problems within
the hotel in a professional manner
- To carry out any planned preventative maintenance as directed by the Chief Engineer
- To be fully competent in the use of all hand tools, power tools, electrical equipment and portable
test equipment
- To have a working knowledge of the building management software and any other maintenance
related systems that fall under the responsibilities.
- To keep a complete record of all work carried out and provide this to the Chief Engineer at the
end of each shift
- To have a working knowledge of fire panels, sprinklers, emergency lights and fire pumps
- To know and adhere to health and safety, fire and security precautions that operate in the
department and in the hotel
- To carry out painting and decorating tasks as directed by the Chief Engineer.
- Undertake general minor plumbing work such as unblocking drains, urinals and toilets, basic
plumbing repairs, tapware, toilets and shower heads up to the authorized level.
- Investigate minor electrical defects, continuously check and if needed - replace lights and/or light
bulbs and carry out minor electrical maintenance up to authorised level.
- Investigate minor mechanical defects and carry out minor mechanical maintenance up to an
authorised level.
- To carry out duties and assist other outlets as directed by the Chief Engineer.
- Ensures all electrical equipment is in safe working order in line with current regulations.
- Is fully aware of the hotel's and local health and safety and fire regulations, and carries them out
according to procedures, ensuring that all staff have a comprehensive understanding and adhere
to fire-life-safety and hygiene policies.
- Ensures a high level of communication is maintained with all other hotel departments, taking a
proactive approach to informing departments of compliance requirements and being receptive to
other departments' needs. To keep the Chief Engineer fully informed of any issues which arise.
- To assist other departments with activities as appropriate and directed by management.
- Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Conduct minor furniture and carpentry repairs.
- Maintain pools and surrounding areas.
- Be pro-active in developing your individual skills, ensure planned training is completed.
- Ensure you regularly attend communication meetings held within the department.
- Ensure communication between Engineering and all other areas of the hotel is professional,
efficient and thorough. Workplace Health and SafetyTeam members will be accountable to their supervisor or manager for:
- To be responsible for their own safety and the safety of others by the manner in which the duties
are performed under Health and Safety legislation
- Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others (team members,
contractors, guests, members of the public) at the hotel.
