- We have an exciting opportunity for a Lab Manager to join our R&D Services team at our Fonterra Research and Development Centre on a permanent part-time basis.As our Lab Manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure effective day to day operations of our laboratories. The role is crucial in maintaining a supportive and efficient lab environment. By focusing on communication, support, and consistent system implementation, we can ensure our labs operate efficiently and effectively, benefiting all users and contributing to overall success.The position offers flexible, permanent part-time hours, up to three days per week, in a job-share capacity. While there are no direct reports, the role includes the responsibility of overseeing the daily operations of our laboratories.**Role responsibilities include**:
- Provide individual support through direct interactions with lab users.
- Facilitate communication between Lab Staff, Area Managers, Site Operations, Contractors, and External Services.
- Provide practical solutions to assist lab users and resolve concerns. Serve as a conduit for technical staff input on lab infrastructure changes.
- Ensure labs are clean and ready for use each week.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and returned to its place after use, including dishwashing support when required.
- Manage storage areas and ensure old samples are removed
- Perform monthly and annual balance calibration checks.
- Organise for repair or replacement of equipment and infrastructure as needed.
- Ensure labs are stocked with consumables.
- Train existing lab staff, new staff, and students in foundational ways of working and good lab practices.
- Support Area Managers in conducting thorough inductions to ensure lab users are informed and prepared.

- You’ll have experience in managing a lab in an academic or research setting, with strong communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.You’ll demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage a dynamic workload effectively, and exhibit excellent prioritisation, and decision-making skills. Being reliable, approachable, and capable of identifying and providing solutions for maintaining high lab standards is essential.**Key attributes**:
