Swim Education Instructor

Christchurch, New Zealand Christchurch City Council Full time

Are you customer-focused, passionate about the importance of learning to swim and do you enjoy seeing others reach their potential?

Our Learn to swim programme teaches children valuable life skills and our instructors are responsible for maximising their aquatic learning experience.

We ask a lot of our instructors, as you're required to set the energy for each class and you're always on alert, however in return, you are valued for the amazing work you do. Our experienced leaders have swum the hard yards and know the energy, effort, and passion that goes into every single lesson. Job satisfaction is different for everyone, but when you see the smile on the children's faces after they succeed in your class, we promise that feeling is priceless

In return for your hard work, we offer a nationally recognised qualification, continued on-the-job and quarterly trainings. Each teacher can feel confident knowing that before teaching your own classes, you'll have the opportunity to shadow and learn the skills you need to change the lives of your students. Your Team Leader and Supervisor will continue to support you as you develop your craft.

Having a teaching, coaching, or swimming background would be desirable, however, full training is provided. What's important is that you're a logical thinker and are always one step ahead. You are keen to learn and are passionate about teaching people of all ages. Most of all, you will be at home in the water. This programme offers you the potential for growth and other opportunities within our Recreation & Sports unit.

When you join the Christchurch City Council you'll be getting involved first-hand in working to shape the future of this city, our communities, and the environment. As well as working with awesome people within the organisation, you'll find many opportunities to develop and progress your career with us.

We have regular opportunities at the following locations:

- Taiora QEII Recreation & Sports Centre
- Jellie Park -Recreation & Sports Centre
- Te Pou Toetoe - Linwood
- Graham Condon Recreation & Sports Centre
- Pioneer Recreation and Sports Centre
