**The opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity for Data Engineering Tech Lead to join our Data & Analytics Team. Auckland Transport are pushing the boundaries when it comes to technology solutions; creating innovative, customer focused designs and solutions that will take Auckland city to the future In this role you will be responsible for leading and performing ETL developments across AT's Enterprise Data Platforms.

You will define technical standards, technical guidance, technical support and continuous improvement across the Data Platform, while inspiring and growing your team to achieve their technical potential. You will create a technical environment for sustainable excellence in an increasingly diverse and demanding organisation. The role will assist the Data Engineering Lead in managing workflows, supervision and progressing the team.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Supervise and lead data related deliverables
- Establish and embed technical standards and best practice across data deliveries.
- Design, develop and implement innovative data integration and data warehouse solutions across the organisation
- Architect, develop detailed ETL routines, documentation, mappings, scripts and specifications according to user requirement\
- Resolve data ambiguities and anomalies by performing data analysis
- Establish technical leadership for all Data engineers which will help building and running a centre of excellence for data engineering at AT.
- Document inefficiencies or gaps in existing processes and recommend specific and innovative changes to effect improved efficiencies
- Apart from ensuring operational stability of the data warehouse, providing relevant inputs to ensure long-term vision for data-based projects at AT.
- Participate in architecture and design phases of the new products / projects with a particular focus on core platform/back-end enhancements

**About you**

Passionate about technologies and data, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to work in fast paced environment. You will have experience documenting data warehouse designs with a proven track record of successfully delivering large scale enterprise data warehouse solutions.
- 4+ years of database/data warehouse related experience
- Proven experience with technical requirements analysis, business process modelling/mapping, methodology development, and data modelling
- Extensive knowledge of data warehousing methodologies, modelling principles and working experience with toolsets preferably SQL Server, WhereScape RED, SSIS, SSAS, AZURE. Experience with Realtime Data analytics, MPP or Columnar Databses would be advantageous.
- Experience in technologies such as Vertica and AZURE platform (ADF, Synapse, ADLS, etc.) will be advantageous.
- Preferably a recognised tertiary degree in Information Systems, Business Administration or relevant business and industry experience
