Exciting Senior Nurse Opportunity for Māori Health

You will work autonomously as well as be part of a supportive senior nursing and medical team who are committed to reducing inequities and improving health outcomes for Māori. You will be responsible for our Māori Health Portfolio within the ED environment and participate in action to enhance the interface between primary and secondary care with the accelerated, accumulative and radical improvements in Māori Health and the achievement of Pae Ora. This will be achieved by providing expert clinical guidance and leadership in the Emergency Department to facilitate and coordinate a collaborative equity focused approach to care.

We are looking for a Senior Nurse who supports tangata whenua with their hauora through expressions of Māori models of care and Matauranga Māori. The ideal person will provide culturally competent care to whanau who present to ED but will also support the development of culturally safe practice of health workers through education, support and supervision. This would be applied with a focus on Māori health advocacy and leadership in the provision of ED nursing care and/or coordination of care to whanau Māori.

A postgraduate qualification with prescribing qualifications or willingness to obtain is a pre-requisite.

It is essential that you meet the following
- A commitment to Māori Health Equity and outcomes.
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as an RN.
- Current practising certificate.
- Current CORE resuscitation certification.
- Minimum of five years recent post registration experience in Emergency Care.
- Post Graduate Diploma or significant progress towards Clinical Masters with an interest in career advancement towards the Nurse Practitioner pathway.
- Current RN prescribing or working towards.
- Achieved and maintained PDRP expert level or equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
