Listening, learning, changing/ Mā Whakarongo me Ako ka huri te tai. This captures the spirit the Government brings to its work with the Royal Commission, and to what we, the Crown Response Unit, does in response to the Royal Commission's recommendations.

Our purpose | To mātou Kaupapa

The Crown Response Unit co-ordinates the Government's response to the Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry.

Our current policy work programme is focused on three main components:

- responding to the Royal Commission's interim report that recommended the development of a new independent redress system for survivors
- preparing for the development of the Crown's response to the final report of the Royal Commission, which is expected by the end of June 2024
- work on a public apology to survivors.

About the role | Mō te tūranga

Based in the Policy team, the purpose of the Senior Policy Analyst role is to provide high quality objective analysis and advice on government policy issues on behalf of the CRU. This role will be expected to provide leadership and expertise in policy development, analysis and evaluation.

The Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for conducting research, collaborating with stakeholders both within the CRU and across agencies, and delivering recommendations during the development of key policy.

A key component of this role will be ensuring that policy is appropriately informed by survivor voice, and the six principles that have been mandated to guide this work - manaakitanga, openness, transparency, learning, being joined up, and meeting obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi / Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

What you can bring | Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu
- Ability to produce and recognise high quality policy work and provide peer support and coaching to colleagues in a fast-paced and project-based environment.
- Policy knowledge relevant to the Royal Commission Inquiry into Abuse in Care. Project management skills.
- Familiarity with basic statistical analysis is desirable.
- Sound knowledge of government, public sector delivery structures and systems.
- Stakeholder engagement and developments of networks at a senior level, including experience in leading a cross-agency project.
- Experience in cross-functional leadership including the ability to gain the support of key stakeholders across multiple levels.

- An understanding and appreciation of issues and concerns within the Māori, Pasifika and whaikaha/Deaf and disabled communities.
