**DIVISION OF COMMERCE**
**_About our team/Mō te tīma_**
We are a small team who provide strategic leadership and advice to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Commerce) for all matters relating to Pacific Development within the Division.
We provide Commerce-specific pastoral care, course advice, exam preparation, study help and can liaise with academic departments and support services with respect to any issues relating to Pacific Island students in the Division of Commerce and their course of study. Pacific-focused Commerce outreach activities are organised by this team.
**_The role/Te mahi_**
You will be responsible for developing and leading programmes and projects that contribute to the recruitment, retention and achievement of Pacific Islands Students in the Division of Commerce. You will monitor the achievement of these students, working closely with the Associate Dean (Pacific) and other relevant divisional Pacific support staff and the Pacific Islands’ Centre.
There are designated support programmes for Pacific Students in the Division of Commerce, and you will provide oversight and coordination of these with the purpose of advancing student retention and academic achievement.

- Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity of cultural and diversity issues with a focus on working with Pacific Islands people and their cultures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, reflected in an ability to engage with people from a wide range of cultures, diverse backgrounds and at all levels of the University, including Academic and Professional staff.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide range of people verbally and in writing.
- A degree, preferable at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and experience of university life.
- Advanced ability to analyse data, review and evaluate programmes, write formal reports and make recommendations.
- The ability to work independently, and function well in a team.
- Flexibility to work outside normal working hours if required.

This is a permanent, part time (0.5 FTE, 18.75 hours) position.
