Mō te tūranga | About the role
The team carries out a critical function for the Commission under the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act, educating, engaging with and investigating lenders to ensure that borrowers are protected when borrowing money and lenders abide by the rules. You will engage with and investigate a diverse group of lenders (from high-cost lenders to mobile traders to banks)
- and work closely with our legal team to make a real difference for everyday New Zealanders. The work is variable, interesting, and rewards an inquisitive mind.
We are looking for an Assistant Investigator/Investigator to join our high-performing Credit Investigations and Compliance team. This is a 12 month fixed term position based in either our Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) or Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) office.

- skilled and experienced with investigations, compliance and/or regulatory frameworks;
- strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly understand and synthesize complex information;
- a skilled communicator - ability to write reports and comfortable presenting and interviewing;
- excellent at time management - able to prioritise your workload and successfully project manage multiple files;
- the ability to work individually and in a team; and
- passionate about consumer protection
