**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

The purpose of Te Tari Pūreke, Firearms Safety Authority business unit is to enable New Zealand to be a world leader in arms safety through an effective regulatory and administrative approach to the Arms Act and Arms Regulations. Established to lead, operate, and develop investment in modernisation of the firearms system, which will result in a more efficient and effective risk-based licensing system, introduction of comprehensive performance indicators, and shall improve public confidence in the firearms licensing system. The modernisation of the Arms Regulatory System will take every opportunity to prevent harm through transparent, high quality, consistent, legislatively correct, and effective regulatory activities, administration, education, and promotion of compliance with the provisions of the Arms Act and Arms Regulations.

The Regulator will earn trust and confidence by working together in partnership with other policing groups, iwi, the firearms community, wider New Zealand public and other agencies and organisations to achieve collective impact.

**Takohanga Matua | Key Accountabilities**:

- Development, delivery, and facilitation of training programs that support staff development.
- Monitoring legislative changes impacting practices, identifying future trends, and advising implications for training.
- Working with the Learning and Development Senior Advisor to identify and analyse skill requirements.
- Evaluating training programs and drafting improvements based on findings.
- Coordinating third-party training providers when required.
- Maintaining strong partnerships and communities of practice across the organisation.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of a high-performing team.

**Experience is to include**:

- 3+ years’ experience in adult learning.
- Demonstrated experience in instructional design, preferable.
- Experience developing training content/material/programmes.
- Experience facilitating and delivering training.
- Experience in working with groups, across regions or nationally.
- Demonstrable experience of facilitation and delivery of training.
- Experience with LMS management.
- Strong adult learning and development knowledge.
- Understanding of L&D frameworks and systems.
- Familiarity with the ADDIE Model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation).
- Experience with third-party training providers.

**Skills***:

- Excellent communication skills for delivering training and establishing relationships.
- Analytical skills for evaluating training programs and suggesting improvements.
- Administrative skills for preparing training resources and coordinating training delivery.
- Ability to proactively develop and maintain strong partnerships.
- Commitment to fostering a safe and supportive work environment.
- Ability to respect diversity and demonstrate inclusiveness.
- Adherence to organisation's standards of integrity and conduct.
- Digital literacy and is able to confidently use of technologies such as MS Office suite, LMS systems and preferable, instructional design software.
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Project Management skills preferred but not essential.

**Qualifications / Requirements***:
