Transpower owns and operates New Zealand's National Grid - the unique High Voltage transmission network crossing mountain passes, forests, farmland, and open sea, bringing electricity from where it is generated to where it is needed most.

Our Real Time Systems team, is responsible for gathering and integrating substation and field data into the national SCADA system (Supervisory control and data acquisition) to provide operators, engineers and analysts across the business with the data they need to make real business decisions.

**Our Graduate Programme**

Commencing February 2025 in Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington, we invite you to be part of a cohort of 30 Engineering Graduates with various majors. **The Opportunity**

Based at either our Wellington Waikoukou head office or Hamilton office you will complete a circa two-year rotational programme, rotating through placements like SCADA projects, RTU Projects, Protection and Automation, and Engineering Consultants, and may be part of:

- Configuration, testing, and commissioning of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
- SCADA database and display modelling
- Project commissioning work on national SCADA
- Supporting our service providers in the field during projects and faults
- Working with our Service Providers on site to experience live testing and commissioning work.

Building relationships across the business you'll gain both deep technical understanding and strengthen your soft skills, along with a good awareness of internal and external customer needs. Ultimately, we will help you explore where and how you wish to shape your career with us.

**What will you bring?**

By December 2024 you will have completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) ideally with electrical, electronic, mechatronics, engineering science, or computer science however you may come from power systems.

You'll be achieving/have achieved a minimum B+/5.5 grade point average in your studies and demonstrate curiosity, outstanding written and verbal communication, and active listening.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills will support your love of detail-orientated work/study, but conversely, you'll be interested in the big picture, and future of energy, making a difference to Aotearoa and having a positive impact on the communities we serve.

**While not essential, the following skills are a plus, so please tell us if you have**:

- Basic knowledge/experience of the New Zealand electricity supply industry
- Skills in scripting/programming/coding
- Proficient in the use of MS Office suite i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams
- Knowledge of programming/modelling of SCADA, RTU or PLC
- Knowledge of telemetry systems, networking and protocols (e.g. DNP3 or IEC 61850 Standard)

A foundational understanding of one or more of the following is desirable: telemetry systems, networking (IP) and industrial communications protocols.
