Auckland Council is pleased to have an opportunity to welcome new directors to the Watercare Services Limited Board in 2024.

Your leadership and guidance will help us continue to deliver high-quality water services for Tāmaki Makaurau. At the same time, you will support the transition of Watercare as the council works with the government to ensure sustainable funding and investment into Auckland’s water services.

You will act with personal integrity and moral leadership with wise and thorough decision-making. Board members are accountable and responsive to both Auckland Council and the people of Auckland, and they must demonstrate a commitment to a public sector ethos.

It will also be critical that you uphold the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and promote outcomes for Māori, as well as supporting collaboration across the Council group.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

You will need to have proven and extensive experience as a director of large-scale, complex organisations.

We are looking for people with deep professional experience in one or more of the following areas:

- finance, audit and risk, with experience in balance sheet restructuring and in leading Audit and Risk Committees
- water processing operations and relevant infrastructure or engineering disciplines, in particular experience in the development and delivery of major capital programmes.

You have expertise to:

- lead efficiency programmes and financial and organisational transformation
- critically assess asset management plans and capital programme to maximise value for money
- understand te ao Māori and improve outcomes for Māori
- assess impacts of climate change in the planning and management of essential infrastructure.
