Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role
Reporting to the Team Leader - Internal Communications Wellington, the Senior Internal Communications Advisor plays a key role in providing strategic account management support across the People, Governance and Capability Business Group at Kāinga Ora. The account will be allocated by the Team Leader.
As an experienced senior communications professional, you are a natural strategic thinker with excellent relationship management skills who is easily able to build productive partnering relationships with the internal stakeholders you support. If you have experience in providing strategic internal communications support across areas including technology, people or safety, support and wellbeing, then this is the role for you.
One of these roles also leads the collating and sending of all Kāinga Ora Business Alerts. The role is required to work with stakeholders across Kāinga Ora on key operational alerts.
Both roles will also support the Team Leader with crisis communications when required to ensure our people are informed of how we are operating (in the event of a crisis) and informed of important policies and processes.
Experience in creating presentations and online sessions and a willingness to learn new technology is also a distinct advantage. Key to your success in this role will be ensuring strategic communications plans are in place, that they are fit for purpose and align with, as well as promote, the mahi and values of our organisation.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring
To be successful in this role the Senior Internal Communications Advisor will have:

- Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism and 3-5 years relevant experience in a senior communications role.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results - has built a good reputation in their area of expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a high performing communications team.
- In-depth understanding of the approach to developing a communications strategy and experience in implementing specific strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to create and facilitate online presentations.
- An excellent storyteller, with a natural ability to weave a compelling, people-focused narrative.
- The ability and desire to collaborate and work well in a team environment.
- Experience in prioritising demands, meeting deadlines and delivering desired results by taking ownership and using effective self and time management approaches.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Interest in public sector structure, governance, processes and systems.
- Willingness to learn new technology, such as platforms for online sessions.
