We are looking for a motivated individual to join the national Customs-controlled Areas (CCA) Team as a Senior Customs Officer Grade 1 (SCO G1).

The CCA Team engage with industry partners with a prime focus on increasing drug seizures and disrupting criminal activity within the supply chain.

The role of an Intelligence Analyst will help support a high performing and results-driven team through providing quality intelligence analysis and independent tailored products for both the team and industry partners.

Reporting to the Supervising Customs Officer, you will be part of a national CCA Team in the Border Operations Group. You will be offered training and support and will work closely with the Intelligence team and have access to all required intelligence systems.

**Your main areas of focus will be**:

- providing real time advice and up to date information to the national CCA Team on seizure trends and operations to help plan and focus our attention and messaging
- helping develop products and resources to share with industry partners to help increase drug seizures and identify and disrupt criminal infiltration
- supporting the development of detailed dossiers regarding the processes of Customs Controlled Areas to help identify and fill any intelligence and knowledge gaps as well as identify and mitigate any potential risk that could be exploited by criminals
- providing real-time support to team members undertaking operational activity or dealing with referrals from our industry partners and helping the team in their decision making.

Based at Air Cargo Inspection Facility (ACIF) at Auckland International Airport you will generally work regular hours, Monday to Friday. This role has a national focus so there will be opportunity for the successful person to travel with the team on some of the deployments in order to offer the required level of support, and to support our Christchurch based team.

The salary range for this role is $64,608 - $81,474 (based on relevant skill-set and experience).

This role is intellectually challenging and requires an individual who is proactive, conscientious, adaptable and comfortable interpreting legislation. Senior Customs Officers must take responsibility in managing their own and others' skills, knowledge and expertise to ensure a multi-skilled team approach.

To be successful in this role you will need to able to demonstrate:

- ability to work with large data sets and using analytical tools
- understanding of information security principles (classifications, caveats, handling and sharing of information)
- confident report writing skills and ability to produce high-quality reporting
- comfort in giving briefings across all levels - both internally to various Customs teams, and externally to various industry partners
- ability to build great stakeholder relationships by being approachable, supportive and willing to help.

Ideally you will have experience in an intelligence team or working with intelligence and have the ability to learn the operational environment at Customs OR you may have a really good understanding of Customs operational areas and are willing to upskill in intelligence practices.

To join Customs in any role you must be a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand permanent resident* and for this role, be able to obtain and maintain an Organisational Security clearance along with being able to obtain and maintain security clearance to 'Top Secret' level. You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level. Already having Top Secret clearance is a benefit, but not a requirement.

Due to the nature of Customs work you must have a clear Police record. Successful applicants are also required to pass a medical assessment and drug test and must hold a full NZ Drivers' licence.
