Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
We are looking for a Principal Analyst to join the team leading a review of school staffing settings for 12 months. This is an exciting, high-profile work programme aimed at fundamentally revisiting how we staff schools across Aotearoa New Zealand and has the potential to bring significant change for learners and communities.
The role will primarily be focussed on supporting the work of a Ministerial Advisory Group made up of education sector experts who have recently been appointed to lead the review of school staffing settings. A dedicated team is being put in place to work closely with the Group as they refine their work programme, provide ongoing analysis and advice as they form their recommendations, and work with internal Ministry stakeholders as the work progresses.
The Principal Analyst role will be the lead and main contact point into the review for Te Pou Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce. Te Pou Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce develop the education workforce strategy, including a focus on specialist services, employment relations, pay equity, education payroll, education workforce supply and leadership and scholarship functions. The Principal Analyst will work closely with teams across the group and lead on the thinking, analysis and advice to shape a workforce with appropriate skills and qualifications to support ākonga in schools.
The team leading the review sit within Te Pou Kaupapahere | Policy so this will involve matrix-style work arrangements. The Principal Analyst may also support other priority work items within Te Pou Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce, as needs arise.

Mōhou ake | About you
We're looking for experienced professionals that are happy working in across policy and operational spaces. We are interested in hearing about any form of experience, in analysis and developing data insights or otherwise, you have that would benefit our mahi.
To be successful in the role, you need to be curious and a critical thinker and problem solver. You'll be a great communicator and work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, developing relationships at all levels. You will be comfortable with matrix-style working.
