**RF Systems Project Engineer**
**Te Tūranga - The Role**
We have an exciting opportunity for a RF Systems Project Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the business by leveraging their technical expertise, analytical prowess, interpersonal finesse, and business acumen to craft communication solutions for our clients. The primary focus of this position revolves around radio access network (RAN) facets within land-mobile radio (LMR) systems.
This position entails spearheading the design of coverage verification and evaluating the results of CVT.
You will need to have a solid background in RF engineering design, radio systems design/deployment, and significant hands-on experience in radio site operations. Familiarity with customer control centre operations related to Radio System functioning would be advantageous.
You will be engaging in all project stages, you will delve into high-level RF system design, coverage and frequency planning, detailed RF site design and specification, as well as aiding in system installation, commissioning, and coverage validation.
It is required you have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and it is imperative for Tait to be perceived as responsive, innovative, competent, and professional as the conduct and communication style significantly influence ensuring project success and customer satisfaction.
**The duties of the role will include**:
- Lead the work programme for coverage verification of LMR systems across multiple Tait projects.
- Establish clear goals and outcomes for yourself and technical staff, ensuring these are aligned to project and programme needs.
- Take ownership for delivering related elements, assigning, and directing technical staff as appropriate.
- Monitor and report progress, taking appropriate action to address exceptions.
- Provide peer support for design of radio network solutions and understand all field activities required for radio system deployment.
- Use and develop specialist Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to turn complex data into more user-friendly formats, like maps and 3D virtual plans/models.
- Collate, process, and analyse CVT Data using Tait's GIS and mapping systems against coverage designs.
- Participate in design review, technology road mapping for supporting systems.
- Work with clients to develop and support CVT systems deployment and train staff and clients in their use.
- Design data specifications (what data needs to be collected, how it should be collected, and how accurate it needs to be)
- Write and present reports on geospatial data analysis.
**Ō pūkenga - About You**
To be successful in this role, you will have a Degree in Electronics, Radio Systems or Communications Engineering or the equivalent field is required.
As well as:
- 5 years or more experience in radio systems.
- At least 5 years in a communications system project engineering role with direct responsibility for delivery of RAN engineering outputs
- System analysis and RF system design skills and experience
- Proven ability to plan and lead technical workstreams in project environments.
- A Professional Engineering registration (e.g. IPENZ) would be advantageous.
- A Project Management qualification (e.g. PMP) would be advantageous.
