The opportunity

As Health, Safety and Quality Manager you provide leadership, advice, and support to the Manawatu-Whanganui region to help deliver work for customers safely and to the highest quality standard. You will implement the organization’s H&S plans and policies, and plan, develop and document processes to improve quality assurance. You will also oversee the provision of education and training to your direct reports.

In addition to the above you will:
- Promote, lead, and support the positive safety and quality culture of the company, and your team, to support the business to achieve Living Safely 2.0- Take responsibility for HSQ within the Manawatu-Whanganui region to ensure compliance with the company health and safety and quality policies- Assist with the development, updating and maintenance and implementation of the living safely manual to ensure compliance with H&S legislation, regulations and standards, and codes of practice- Ensure the systems in the manual are implemented and complied with throughout the company- Provide advice, guidance, support and training to management and staff at all levels in relation to health, safety and quality- Plan audits to ensure quality standards are maintained to regulatory requirements and prepare reports detailing actions that are identified- Identify cost savings opportunities, ie - reducing injury costs through proactive spend

To be successful in this role, you will:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within roading, civil or construction industries- Tertiary qualification in health and safety or extensive industry experience preferred- Previous experience with best practice quality systems and process- Proven leadership skills and experience managing and developing teams- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders- Ability to articulate complex information in simple terms for clear understanding by others- Computer Skills - Proficient in MS Office Suite, with Excel experience- Competent in producing reports and analysing data- Current NZ Class 1 Full Drivers License
