The Architecture team ensures we have fit for purpose technology solutions which support the realisation of our strategic objectives and enable ‘Our Business’. We have an exciting opportunity for a capable solution architect who is energetic and enthusiastic to join our team.
Reporting to the Architecture Practice Manager, you will be providing a range of Architecture services to support and enable our business partners from across the organisation.
As a Solutions Architect, you will have the ability to understand technologies and be adaptable to picking up new ones as required. You will be knowledgeable in the technology of architecture and have sound experience in using the TOGAF architectural framework (UML/Archimate). You will be working as a collaborative member of the Architectural Practice team where you will be working to deliver on key projects and facilitate the team to produce required outcomes in a timely manner.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Champion Architecture practices.
- Contribute to a strong team culture.
- Exhibit advanced stakeholder management by driving engagement across Police to deliver effective outcomes.
- Be a credible leader and expert advisor that will align the efforts of the Architecture group to assist in the delivery by:
- Delivering effective Solution Architecture through impact assessments, options analysis, high level design and assurance activities which help inform our decision-making processes.
- Contributing to our Strategic Architecture through the development of component models, roadmaps, blueprints standards and roadmaps.

**To be successful in this role, you will require the following**:
- Demonstrated Solution Architect experience across a broad range of technologies
- In-depth practical understanding of traditional and modern architectures and designs within a large-scale enterprise
- Excellent verbal and written communication, a real communicator capable of effectively communicating with all levels including business stakeholders, architects, operational staff and vendors
- People skills - you work well with a wide range of personalities and have the ability to collaborate with a diverse team
- A relevant Architectural / business qualification, or equivalent experience
- You’re a master in seeing the big picture. You’ll understand multiple stakeholder propositions or pain points and work with the team to imagine the best way to achieve everything
You will also demonstrate and build your skills in the following:
- Strong experience with Cloud (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) technologies, such as AWS, Azure, M365, etc.
- Ability to work through architecture governance structures to assess and recommend most suitable solution options
- Create High Level Solution Designs (HLD) ensuring alignment to principles, standards, and strategy and present to the architecture governance forum
- Create Solution Architecture and designs based on interoperability standards
- Provide leadership to technical leads and development teams
- Understand and document the current state architecture using the adopted Enterprise Architecture standard
- Demonstrated experience incorporating security, recovery, audit, availability, performance, and operational monitoring into solution design including alignment to NZISM
- Show a good understanding of and experience with using architecture frameworks and methods such as TOGAF
- Architecture modelling experience with tools such as Sparx EA
- Modelling frameworks such as TOGAF, UML and ArchiMate
This role is set at Team Leader/Manager level, this means your key purpose is “to lead the activities for Our Business and enable people to deliver them.”
