Arms Officers - Registry

**Location**: Auckland

Salary Starting from $66,670

Permanent Full-Time

Mō te tūnga | About the role

Through the Firearms Registry, we are strengthening how we manage firearms and other arms items in New Zealand. From 24th June 2023, all firearms licence holders are required to register arms items in their possession through digital or non-digital channels.

As an Arms Officer - Registry you will play a vital role in improving public safety by ensuring that lawfully purchased firearms and arms items are properly registered to prevent them falling into the wrong hands, reducing the risk of ordinary New Zealanders from becoming a victim of a firearms offence. The overarching remit of an Arms Officer - Registry will be to develop a sound working knowledge of the Arms Act 1983, and to support the registration, safe custody, and safe use of firearms within New Zealand, while supporting other business processes within the wider Firearms Safety Authority.

We are looking for strong communicators, with excellent written and oral skills, who take pride in the quality of work that they deliver. We are looking for strong team players who are also willing to be accountable as individuals for what they need to deliver.

Based in Auckland, this position encompasses digital and non-digital responsibilities, and requires a strong customer service ethic.

New Zealand Police fosters a high-performance culture, supporting the development of our staff while also ensuring that the health and wellbeing of our people remains a high priority. A core value of working in Police is ‘Valuing Diversity’. We recognise the value that differing perspectives and experiences make, enabling us to be better at what we do. We encourage applicants with a range of experience and life skills, and with any length of current tenure.
