Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand, leads the day-to-day running of our health system across New Zealand, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. It weaves the functions of the 20 former District Health Boards into its regional divisions and district offices, ensuring continuity of services in the health system.

Here in Waitaha, Canterbury we deliver health services to the almost 600,000 people that live in the Canterbury region. We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles by ensuring our partnership with Māori are at the forefront of all our conversations.

**The Team**

The Department of General Surgery at Christchurch Hospital are proud of the services we deliver to the people of Canterbury and surrounding DHBs. We are a dynamic and innovative team of 24 SMOs, 20 RMOs and 12 House Officers, with a large administrative and nursing team.

**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

The Department of General Surgery is offering a 12 month Fellowship in General Surgery with a speciality focus in Colorectal Surgery starting in October 2024. This Fellowship position is for a one year fixed term role that is aimed to increase your clinical experience in a large tertiary hospital. The successful applicant will be required to participate in acute service on a rotational and on-call basis.
