This is a new role for our service so gives you the opportunity to define and embed the role of a Psychologist in the inpatient rehabilitation setting. Our rehabilitation ward treats people with a variety of conditions including stroke, amputations, acquired brain injury and amputations.

The successful post holder will work collaboratively with patients, whānau and the rehabilitation MDT to identify and attain rehabilitation goals through the provision of psychology assessment and intervention.

We are in an exciting time with a coordinated rehabilitation programme of work being undertaken and this role will have a key part to play in informing and advancing this from a Psychology perspective.

Whilst this is the only psychology role in the rehabilitation team, you will be part of a wider collective of psychologists who work across General Health and Mental Health who have regular study days and special interest group meetings to enable collaboration and shared learning across the profession. We also offer regular supervision and support with professional development.

Our rehabilitation MDT is based within the Kenepuru Inpatient Allied Health Team - a team of over 30 Allied Health staff from six different professions. We work together closely to provide a service of high standard to patients and their families and whanau. We are a very supportive team who provide training and learning opportunities, supervision, encourage professional development and have fun and laughter along the way.

Within the rehabilitation ward you will work alongside dedicated nursing, medical and Allied Health staff to empower and enable patients to meet their rehabilitation goals. You will also work with our Allied Health Consultant (Rehabilitation) who is a key member of the rehabilitation team, driving service improvements across the rehabilitation continuum.

**Moū - About you**

We are looking for trailblazing clinical or health psychologist who is up for the challenge of developing and delivering a new service in this clinical area. Ideally you’ll have experience working with stroke survivors or in a similar healthcare setting.

You’ll be someone who is great at building relationships, working in an agile manner, is excited by the prospect of forging a new path and can worth both autonomously and collaboratively. With skills in teaching and service development you’ll be keen to share the knowledge you have and be open to learning and growing your own skillset.

You’ll have a commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a desire to work positively to improve health outcomes for Māori.
