**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

We now have two positions available to join Te Tauihu Waka Tairanga Whenua / the Co-governance team.
Te Tauihu supports several independent co-governance entities, including the Tūpuna Maunga o Tāmaki Makaurau Authority, Te Poari o Kaipātiki ki Kaipara (formerly the Parakai Recreation Reserve Board) and the Ōrākei Reserves Board. Te Tauihu provides governance advice to support the co-governance entities in a way that incorporates a mana whenua worldview, and which reflects the bespoke statutory frameworks of the entities. Te Tauihu sees itself as a guardian of the visions of these co-governance entities and responsible for enhancing the Treaty of Waitangi-based partnerships that underpin the entities.

Te Tauihu is also responsible for developing a co-governance ‘centre of excellence’ at Auckland Council by designing best practice policies and guidelines that reflect the mana whenua world view and influencing the establishment of future co-governance entities.

You will support Te Tauihu in carrying out work for the co-governance entities. Alongside operational management, you will help create a positive relationship with mana whenua connected with the co-governance entities and has a key focus to ensure that their world view is reflected in the activities and policies of the co-governance entities. One role is focused on offering governance support for the Tῡpuna Maunga Authority, including some policy and administrative support. The other role provides half of its time towards governance support to other co-governance arrangements and the other half to supporting special operational projects for such co-governance arrangements.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

You will be firmly grounded in kaupapa Māori, it is the essence of your worldview and gives meaning to your work with experience working with iwi, hapū and Māori in Auckland, experience in promoting learning of Te Reo, Tikanga and Mātauranga Māori, strong communication in Māori speaking mediums, ability to build collaborative relationships and experience with relationship management, results orientated, organised and well planned. Ideally, you will have an understanding of local or central government. A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is desirable, but not a prerequisite. This could include Māori studies or te Reo Māori, arts, law, planning, resource management, politics, business or other relevant area.
