Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Exciting opportunity to be part of the Communications team to help communicate WorkSafe's priority focus areas to internal and external audiences.
- Use the full range of internal and external channels available to deliver communications and engagement initiatives.
- Work across the broader Communications and Channels team, with the opportunity to develop experience in content creation, social media, and web publishing.
- Be part of an organisation committed to making a difference to the health, safety and wellbeing of workers, whānau and communities.
- Flexible working by default and leadership that is committed to creating mentally healthy work.
- Permanent role based at WorkSafe's new Wellington office.

Now is an exciting time to join WorkSafe - help us bring our new strategy and purpose to life.
About the role
How do you make it easier for our people, stakeholders, media and the public to understand WorkSafe's role and areas of focus? Through engaging and effective communications.
To help us achieve this, we are looking for a Communications Advisor who is inquisitive, thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to grow their skills and get to the top of their field.
You'll be an active member of a small, high performing Communications team, supporting the planning and delivery of communications programmes and events, and providing support and advice across the business.
Together with members of the broader Communications and Channels team, we will be creating opportunities to tell WorkSafe's story through our internal channels, mainstream, community, specialist and social media.
We sit within the Strategy and Insights Group which connects the Government's overarching Health and Safety at Work Strategy to workers and businesses. We work in partnership with other agencies and organisations alongside other WorkSafe teams to ensure everyone in New Zealand is coming home healthy and safe.

**In this role, you will**:

- Contribute to the design, development and delivery of communications to ensure we are providing a connected, integrated one-WorkSafe view
- Have the opportunity to work with leaders in the team to identify communications and engagement needs and issues and recommend appropriate solutions
- Be responsible for supporting end-to-end delivery of communications projects so being able to juggle multiple requirements at once is critical
- Be expected to support and at times generate content for internal and external communications through oral, written and visual means including writing articles, creating presentations, and commissioning collateral.

**To be successful, you will**:

- Have a minimum of one year's experience working in an office environment, preferably in a communications and/or marketing function
- Demonstrate communications (written and oral) and presentation skills using a variety of writing styles and skills
- Have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships and networks
- Have good planning and project management skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure and to prioritise tasks and meet competing deadlines
- Show a willingness to learn and try new things with a positive and optimistic outlook
- Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to equitable outcomes and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
