Parks Operator
5 days ago
The Waipā District prides itself on its abundance of recreational whenua (land). Waipā District Council is a growth Council with the challenges and opportunities that affords. Taking care of the Parks and Reserves, you'll find our passionate team - working together to keep our public spaces in great shape for locals and visitors to enjoy.
**About The Role**
**About You**
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Significant experience with horticulture and horticultural plant and equipment;
- Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements and processes (although you will have expert support from a dedicated H&S Business Partner); and
- A genuine desire to foster great relationships and inspire, support and grow staff
The role requires someone motivated and organised, who can assist in the creation and management of effective work schedules. Experience mentoring or training others would be a bonus. Local government and cemeteries experience would be handy, although not essential. All our leaders are supported to grow and develop their leadership capabilities via our in-house Leadership Development Programme.
Our Parks and Reserves team is a fun and friendly bunch who are passionate about the work they do, and highly supportive of each other.
**What's on Offer?**
We offer significant support for training and upskilling, generous leave entitlements and great benefits. We are committed to promoting better outcomes for our community, and place value on our team in achieving this goal. So, there is emphasis on professional development, progression opportunities, and health and wellbeing initiatives (including helpful subsidies, such as gym discounts and health monitoring services) alongside other staff benefits (including coverage of a $100k life insurance scheme).
It's a great team environment, where you will be supported and valued for your contribution.
