High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) works in partnership with National Sport Organisations (NSOs) to support athletes and coaches to deliver performances on the world stage that inspire the nation and communities. HPSNZ also works in in partnership to target specific sports and campaigns, contribute specialist performance support resources and expertise, and provide strategic investment to enable success.
Reporting to the Director of Performance Health, the Head of Performance Physiotherapy will lead the Nationwide strategy, technical direction, and delivery of Physiotherapy and Massage Therapy to high performance athletes and campaigns within NSO performance pathways.
This is a specialised role within a wider Athlete Performance Support team of professionals, many of whom are rated amongst the best at what they do in the world. Facilitation of the continuous development and progression of Physiotherapy and Massage Therapy through trusted partnerships and aligning quality people is required to ensure the delivery of world-leading physiological support that positively impacts on performance outcomes.
Leading, managing and developing a team of Physiotherapists (located throughout New Zealand), all with extensive experience and expertise in a world class high performance sport system, the role requires a dynamic and inspirational leader with a demonstrated understanding of best practice when implementing strategic drivers that inspire the team and optimise their expertise whilst successfully meeting the requirements of HPSNZ coaches and athletes to achieve both organisational and team objectives. A strong applied background in the field of physiotherapy is critical to ensure the team of experts are challenged skilfully.
To be considered for this role you must hold a Masters (or higher) in physiotherapy with extensive experiences in a high performance sport environment and supporting teams at major international competitions including successful Olympic / World Championship campaigns across at least two Olympic cycles.
In addition, you must demonstrate an ability to lead and drive the effective implementation of strategies for the continued development of physiotherapy services, ensuring the best possible support is provided to all athletes and coaches. It is also essential that you have a history of building long lasting stakeholder relationships with the ability to work across a multi-disciplinary team.
