**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

Working in a dynamic team environment, this is a varied and motivating role with the opportunity to make a real impact, enabling positive outcomes for Auckland’s environment and people. The role sits within the Coastal and Water Allocation team in the Regulatory Engineering and Resource Consents Department. It involves the assessment and provision of specialist geotechnical and hydrogeological technical advice on the risks associated with the taking and/or diversion of groundwater for a wide range of interesting and challenging developments, including major subdivisions and infrastructure projects of regional significance. We provide technical support to our regulatory engineering and resource consenting teams and our colleagues in the monitoring and compliance teams, influence policy, design and deliver training to key audiences, and present evidence in Council and Environment Court hearings.

As a Senior position, the role also involves mentoring junior staff, peer reviewing reports and supporting the team with leadership and coaching where necessary.

We are seeking applicnts who have:

- A tertiary qualification in environmental science / hydrogeology/geotechnical engineering, or civil engineering;
- Considerable experience undertaking hydrogeological assessments, preferably within a planning context;
- Proven experience in the provision of high quality, timely, specialist advice;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Experience and understanding of the Resource Management Act and associated planning legislation and knowledge of council process;
- An understanding of the Auckland Council regulatory framework in relation to groundwater dewatering/diversion, would be an advantage.

Salary range will be $97,410 to $126,060 (depending on experience)
