**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
We are hiring an intermediate **Data Engineer** who is very enthusiastic about data to focus on building structured, high-quality data solutions which we use to evolve our data products.
In this role you will support the Data Architecture stream in ensuring Auckland Unlimited strategic goals are optimised by evolving effective Enterprise Data Management using enterprise data standards for data warehousing, data lake, data management and other corporate databases.
The key for this role is to unlock the value of data within the organisation by providing expertise, platforms, and capabilities.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a high level of problem solving and decision-making skills, using professional judgement. You will also bring:
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
- Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
- Hands-on experience with data manipulation and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Java, and Python)
- Hands-on experience with SQL database design
- Great numerical and analytical skills
- Working experience with on-premises, Azure cloud hosted data management platforms
- Knowledge and understanding of both batch and fast-moving data paradigms
- Well versed with various data modelling techniques and design principles
- Possess strong creative and analytical problem-solving skills around computation, interpretation, and presentation of data intelligence for decision making
- Knowledge of Machine Learning, data mining and AI principles applied to data patterns recognition resolving data driven problems
- Knowledge and experience working with NoSQL data management platforms such as MongoDB, Hadoop, Cassandra, MapReduce etc
- Experience working with various types of data sources - structured, semi-structured, non-structured.

- Azure Synapse (Apache Spark/Delta lake), Azure SQL DB, or Databricks
- Azure Data-lake Storage
- Python
