**Dawn is looking for a talented, creative thinking Software Test Engineer with a proven track record in solving complex technical problems to join our Flight and Ground Software Team in Christchurch, New Zealand.**

The role involves testing all flight software and ground control systems needed to autonomously, safely, reliably, and repeatably fly Dawn’s Mk-II and Mk-III spaceplanes, from any airfield on Earth. You will be solving a lot of complex problems.

**Responsibilities**
- Validation & verification of the Mk-Ⅱ autopilot and ground control software
- Build out our software QA branch:

- Design & implement representative tests across the spectrum: unit/integration, performance/quality, software/hardware-in-the-loop, pilot/aircraft-in-the-loop, etc.
- Automate all automatable steps, reducing manual testing & reporting to a minimum
- Define processes & structures tailored to our unique use case
- Work alongside engineers from a variety of disciplines

**Requirements**:
**Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
- 3+ years relevant experience
- Relevant domain knowledge (aviation)
- Ample exposure to Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and simply communicate complex information

**Desired Skills and Experience**
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, Bash and similar
- Knowledge of high criticality software and relevant tooling and processes common in regulated industries (e.g., DO-178/C, MISRA/AUTOSAR, etc.)
- Exposure to all steps in the software development cycle
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Experience with GitLab (Project Management / Runners)
