**_ About our team/Mō te tīma_**

The CHI is undertaking a study called Hauora Manawa mō ngā Kaumātua me ngā Whānau which is investigating the effect of age on heart structure and function in older Māori. We will be holding heart health clinics at Marae around Waitaha Canterbury in 2024.

The Christchurch Heart Institute (CHI) employs 35 - 40 experts in cardiology, genetics, biochemistry and physiology, and is the only integrated 'bench to bedside to community' cardiovascular research group in New Zealand. Over recent years members of CHI have been awarded ~$20M in research funding.

**_ The role/Te mahi_**
- As a Rangahau Tapuhi/Clinical Research Nurse you will attend heart health clinics, along with the Study Coordinator, lab technician, cardiac sonographer and other team members at Marae around Waitaha Canterbury and undertake the following with participants:

- Medical history
- Blood pressure
- Height/weight measurement
- Grip strength
- Consenting/phlebotomy/ECG as required

**_ Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako_**
- The holder has and will maintain a current practicing certificate, as required by their regulatory body (Nursing Council of New Zealand).
- Excellent communication skills, time management, organisational skills and being able to work independently as well as part of a professional team.
- Ability to build good relationships with study participants and with health professionals
- Phlebotomy experience, and familiarity with biological sample processing.
- Compliance with University of Otago and Te Whatu Ora policies and protocols
- Commitment to upholding values, tikanga, kawa and traditions, as guided by Ngāi Tahu who are mana whenua in the region.

This is a part-time (0.3 FTE, 11.25 hours per week), fixed term position for one year.
