**The business**
The off shore demand for superior quality New Zealand fruit continues to grow and this business in the horticultural sector is set to be a major player. Locally owned and operated, this is one of the largest of its kind under single ownership in New Zealand.

**The role**
We are looking for a CEO on part time basis, with the determination and drive to make Deep Creek Fruits a world class operation.

Leading the business professionally and managing key stakeholder and industry relationships with integrity and enthusiasm, you will be well positioned to maximise both the performance and value of the business.

A natural leader, you will develop a strong culture within the organisation, working closely with the contractor service providers and ensuring the optimal delivery of their services. Problem solving with a continuous improvement approach, you will identify and implement new and innovative initiatives and provide clear vision and purpose.

Reporting to the Board and providing them with recommendations and a clear line of sight on the business’s performance, you will be more specifically responsible for:

- Developing and implementing the operating plan, including business plans, operational requirements, resources, staffing and budgets that support the Strategy.
- Participating and contributing to the preparation of annual operating budgets/forecasts.
- Ensuring the operational metrics and financial performance of the business remain robust and consistent with objectives and within parameters/budget.
- Developing and providing full, timely, regular and transparent reporting to the Board on key information, performance metrics, resources, financial limits and operating objectives.
- Maintaining sound and robust financial practices and policies to minimise financial and compliance risk to the organisation.
- Leading and executing business development initiatives.
- Ensuring the development and effective implementation of appropriate human resources policies and procedures in compliance with the law.
- Developing others, motivating and empowering to foster a positive and engaged culture.

**Your background**
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role in the horticultural sector, including a solid understanding of the operational side of horticulture.
- Experience and strength in contract and relationship management.

- Leads by example and provides clear expectations and direction.
- Strong sense of commercial acumen, attuned to business and industry drivers so as to spot areas for competitive advantage, growth, and cost reduction.
- Strong relationship management and communication skills with an ability to easily build rapport and work collaboratively.
- Open and transparent, inspiring trust and respect.
- Able to think outside the square, defining problems and identifying new solutions and opportunities
- Translates strategy into action.
