**The role**:
This Environmental Impact Lead is a new and exciting role for Orion, reporting to our Head of Sustainability and Risk. Our environment, sustainability and innovation are key to us being a force for good in the community and that is what this position is all about.

We want you to lead the implementation and improvement of the Orion Group Environmental Management System while building maturity across the Group through leading environmental impact projects and developing an approach that aligns with our desired social, financial and environmental outcomes.

**A little more about the role**:

- Design and lead our environmental projects to support positive environmental impacts across all Orion Group business units
- Engage our leaders and work in partnership to guide and support the delivery of environmental management excellence and sustainability operations
- Review and track the maturity of environmental management to identify gaps in governance, systems and our capability
- Develop and deliver a roadmap aligned with ISO 14001 for the wider Group for governance support, risk assessments, auditing, reporting and training
- Continuously improve and review our environmental policies, procedures and practices

You’ll be a natural leader with the ability to see and share the ‘big picture’ with a sense of initiative and sound judgement. If you are solution focused and purpose driven with a curious outlook where you can integrate ideas and take on-board differing perspectives, then this is a role you’ll want to know more about.

Some of the things we’ll be considering:

- Bachelor of Environmental Management or substantial experience in a similar field or industry
- Understanding of environmental legislation and best practises, including ISO 14001
- Familiarity with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and curiosity about how to recognise and incorporate Te Ao Māori into the delivery of environmental outcomes
- Ability to think analytically and critically, while being aware of decision-making biases to communicate concepts in an engaging manner
- Successfully deal with ambiguity and uncertainty when dealing with differing ideas and perspectives
- Ability to guide others, a positive attitude, energy and a sense of humour
