About the Role
We are seeking a grad level (minimum 3 years experience in the IT and associated roles) Associate Systems Engineer to carry out a diverse role that provides rich insight into the IT industry and Datacom - in a supportive learning environment in our offices in Wellington.
We are currently adapting the ways that Datacom’s Platform Engineering teams work by implementing agile aligned practices. You will initially assist on our Adaptive Ways of Working programme by helping us document current team processes. This work will give you a detailed understanding of our Platform Engineering business operations.
**Requirements**:
To be successful in this role, the following would be necessary:
- Open mindedness and awareness of personal ‘blind spots’
- Ability to use, or willingness to develop ‘soft’ skills (such as adaptability, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, relationship building, communication, active listening, team work)
- Analytical thinking and ability to keep the ‘big picture’ in mind
- Great communications skills (written and oral) and appreciation of its importance
- Passion for IT and a drive to continually improve
**the following would be beneficial but not necessary**:
- Experience in IT Support, Networking and Systems Administration or a similar role
- Knowledge of Microsoft Server technologies (AD, ADFS, GPO, DNS, DHCP functions)
- Knowledge of Linux Server, SQL, Oracle and backup technologies is definitely beneficial
- Experience or awareness of ITIL practices
- Knowledge and awareness of security policies and procedures.
