Our team is ambitious and has an intellectually stimulating work programme that is also designed to deliver on the fundamental policy issues and functions. You will have the opportunity to lead complex and impactful policy projects, leverage MBIE teams and other agencies.

We prioritise our lead projects and support each other to deliver these as a team

**On a day-to-day basis this role includes**:

- Partnering with the Policy Manager to drive the strategic policy agenda and set the direction for the team’s policy domain
- Providing authoritative policy advice and leading priority programmes of work and project teams on complex and sensitive areas
- Effectively influencing on domain topics through engagement and communication with senior stakeholders
- Enhancing the overall capability of the team through guiding and mentoring senior advisors and advisors in their day-to-day work.

**About the team**:
The Team is responsible for a range of policy, operational and investment functions. The role of the Policy Team is to contribute to MBIE’s purpose of growing Aotearoa New Zealand for all by leading the development of MBIE’s Māori economic prosperity advice and thinking.

**We are keen to hear from you if you have**:

- A strong track record of leading and delivering on policy projects.
- A proven ability to think laterally and creatively to overcome intractable and ambiguous policy issues.
- Extensive experience in writing compelling policy narratives and the ability to pitch these successfully to senior audiences.
- Proficiency in achieving results through others, including empowering team members, influencing other teams and agencies, and maintaining extensive policy and external networks.
