The wastewater requirements of Dunedin residents and visitors to the city are met by seven wastewater treatment plants. These plants ensure that wastewater discharges to the environment are of the highest possible standard and comply with consent limits. The people who operate treatment plants make an important contribution to the public health of the community in which they work.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, punctual, honest and motivated individual with a great attitude to join our 3 Waters Team based at our wastewater treatment plants. With many projects on the go, the Technician/Trainee will also need to adapt to challenges that come within this environment.

As a Trainee you don't need specific experience in the industry, however it is important to have a genuine interest and commitment to learning about the process of treating wastewater. To thrive in our operational and physically demanding environment, you will enjoy hands-on activity, problem solving and will be comfortable working with technology. You will follow a structured training programme, including gaining an industry standard level four qualification in wastewater treatment. Upon successful completion of the trainee programme, you will become a qualified Wastewater Treatment Technician and will be part of a dedicated operations team that manage and operate the wastewater plants and systems of Dunedin and the surrounding areas. As a qualified Technician there are career pathways to further develop within this industry within leadership roles or asset management strands.
