With an ongoing initiative to enhance our payroll processes, particularly in alignment with the Holidays Act, we're on the lookout for a skilled Senior Payroll Specialist.
This role is crucial for ensuring our practices meets compliance standards, reflecting our commitment to our team's well-being. As the Senior Payroll Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of our efforts to audit, correct, and improve our payroll system, with special emphasis on payroll compliance and remediation, related to the Holidays Act. This position demands a meticulous approach to handling payroll discrepancies, an in-depth understanding of statutory requirements, and the ability to implement effective solutions.
**This role is for a 12 month fixed-term.**

You're a detail-oriented professional with a passion for fairness and accuracy in payroll. Your expertise in the Holidays Act and payroll compliance is matched by your commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. You’ll be experienced in significant-sized end-to-end NZ payroll delivery - if you’re also familiar with the Asia Pacific region, even better A go-to source for legislation queries and process across jurisdictions, you’re curious and enthusiastic to proactively upskill, remaining current and sharing knowledge in employment-related policy and regulations. You thrive on the value you and your team will contribute to our people, ensuring timelines are met and accuracy is assured. You naturally work collaboratively, building positive relationships with key stakeholders.
Skills we are looking for:
As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- Sound understanding of all current legislation relating to payroll
- A thorough understanding of the Holidays Act and experience working with Holidays Act remediation and rectification
- A minimum of 4+ years end-to-end payroll experience with large volume data
- Demonstrated experience in delivering exceptional customer service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Thrive under time pressure
To succeed in this role, you will:
- Perform detailed audits of our payroll processes, focusing on adherence to the Holidays Act, identifying any areas of non-compliance or inaccuracies
- Develop and execute a comprehensive remediation plan to address and rectify identified issues, ensuring full compliance with the Holidays Act and other relevant legislation
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory requirements, implementing changes as necessary to remain compliant.
- Handle complex payroll queries and provide expert advice to employees and management on payroll-related issues.

- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to improve payroll processes, implement best practices, and ensure seamless integration with other business systems.
