New Zealand Police is the lead agency responsible for preventing crime and enhancing community safety. It works in partnership with individuals, communities, businesses, and other public sector agencies towards the vision of making New Zealand the safest country. Police is the government’s largest front-line response agency with around 15,000 staff in large and small communities all over New Zealand and in liaison and policing development roles overseas.

He Aranga Ake is a deliverable under New Zealand’s ‘Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism National Strategy’. The purpose of He Aranga Ake is to deliver a multi-agency disengagement framework involving Oranga Tamariki; Ministry of Social Development; Ministry of Health; Ministry of Education; Department of Corrections; New Zealand Police and the New Zealand Security and Intelligence Service. Police currently hold the role of lead agency and have received dedicated Government funding to enable the effective management, delivery and support of this capability.

You will play a unique role supporting the delivery, ongoing capability and evolution of He Aranga Ake. As a Senior Intelligence Analyst, you will be an expert in using a range of analytical tools, methodologies and your advanced critical thinking skills to provide insight and foresight on complex problems and issues. You will be capable of establishing and maintaining sustainable partnerships, championing diverse perspectives and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and identifying opportunities to reflect these in He Aranga Ake intelligence products aligned to NZ Police ‘Our Business’ and the wider prevention work of the National Security System.

This position is currently based within the National Security Group, Counter Terrorism Prevention Team which leads the development and coordination of prevention strategies, initiatives and activities which support the wider investigation work of the National Security Group.

This is an exciting, challenging and important role in a key area for NZ Police and the wider NZ government. The role reports directly to the He Aranga Ake: Operations Manager.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Provide leadership and support to the embedding and ongoing continuous improvement of ‘He Aranga Ake.’
- Proactively identify emerging or escalating trends impacting national security and community reassurance.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce quality profile reports, presentations and verbal briefings that provide clear and concise information appropriate to a range of audiences.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners including whole of government agencies and other specialist community groups and organisations.
- Effectively manage competing priorities and demands to maintain quality of work under strict timeframes.
- Provide technical guidance in Intelligence analysis tools and coach members of the He Aranga Ake team to develop their Intelligence tradecraft.
- Deliver positive leadership and influence in delivering Our Business to support and environment of high performance using the PHPF framework
- Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products
- Assist in leading the development of prevention focussed intelligence products and processes.
- Agile and adaptive to meet evolving needs of He Aranga Ake, including effective use of Power B.I.
- Provide support to update and continually improve processes and procedures.
