- Allocation available at Wellington Regional HospitalWe have one training position
for an advanced trainee (post Part 1 examination) in Paediatrics or Adult
medicine.
The position is recognised as a
training position by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and has been
accredited for 2 years of Clinical Genetics advanced training.
RMO salaries are calculated based on relevant
previous years of experience and the average weekly hours of work as set out in
the relevant run description. For the current salary bands, please refer to
either the Specialty
Trainees of New Zealand (SToNZ) or Resident
Doctors - Association (RDA) Multi-Employer Collective
Agreements.
Experience and Eligibility
have completed at least 2 years
post-graduate clinical work experience and therefore be PGY3 or above by
the role commencement date to be considered for this position
have completed Part 1 examinations and be an Advanced trainee in
Paediatrics or Adult Medicine
- You must have eligibility for
general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of
- You will need to be a NZ or
Australian citizen or resident, or have an appropriate visa to be eligible

GHSNZ is a 3 hub national
service.
The
(Central Hub) with the opportunity to work closely with the non-resident

**Christchurch (South Island Hub)**:

- both are staffed by

friendly and enthusiastic teams of clinical geneticists and genetic
counsellors
- each hub can provide training in general clinical genetics
including dysmorphology, maternofetal medicine, neurogenetics, cancer genetics
and cardiovascular genetics
- the role encourages innovative ideas and is
supportive of personal development.
- The registrar is closely supervised
initially, with room to take on more responsibility as abilities and confidence
increase. There is a weekly departmental review meeting, as well as fortnightly
national case discussions and a monthly national videoconference.
In addition
the registrar is encouraged to attend (via teleconference) Australasian genetic
teaching on a weekly basis. Travel to smaller centres to deliver outreach
services may be part of the role as experience increases Attendance at national
and Australian meetings is encouraged and supported.
