Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu works on behalf of the iwi to manage the collective assets of Ngāi Tahu whānui to promote and ensure their interests and aspirations are met though representational activities, protecting the rights of Ngāi Tahu Whānui and delivering social and cultural programmes.

This role will contribute to our vision of Tino Rangatiratanga, “Mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei (for us and our children after us).”

**Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | **About** the role**
- The role sits in the Te Ao Tūroa (Natural Environment) team, within the wider Strategy and Environment Group of the Office of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, and provides an exciting opportunity to further evolve your leadership and team management skills, supported by an engaged and supportive leadership team.
- Te Ao Tūroa's main focus areas across the Ngāi Tahu takiwā include planning, state of the environment, heritage protection, tribal properties, the management of taonga resources, climate change and mahinga kai.
- The primary focus of the Programme Lead - Mauri role is:
To monitor compliance of environmental related provisions of the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act.There is a need to work closely with leaders within the Strategy and Environment roopu and the other teams of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, Papatipu Rūnanga and their Regional Environmental Entities, councils, government agencies and a range of external stakeholders in undertaking this role.

You will ideally bring:
- Experience successfully managing and leading teams or organisations.-
- A relevant tertiary degree or relevant life experience.-
- Knowledge and understanding of New Zealand environmental policy and law (preferability with lived experience with planning processes within local government).-
- An understanding of mahinga kai values and mātauranga Ngāi Tahu in relation to natural resources.-
