Wellington City, New Zealand NZ Ministry for Primary Industries Full time

**Job Title**: Adviser - 2 Positions

**Role type**: Permanent, full-time

**Location**: Wellington

**Salary range**: $64,331 to $97,056 depending on skills and experience

Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
We are looking for two advisers to join our growing Regulatory Capability team in Food Regulation within New Zealand Food Safety.

**The role will see you contribute to**:

- the creation of learning and training materials for our customers, including Food Act verifiers and verification agencies;
- supporting our online learning management and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) systems; and
- managing enquiries for the Regulatory Capability team

Verifiers are our “boots on the ground” and make sure that the food safety system is being effectively implemented, so the food we eat is safe and suitable. It is important that we support our verifiers in understanding the food safety rules, why they are important and how they should be implemented, so they can support food businesses like your favourite cafes and restaurants to comply with food safety rules.
In this role you may support the development of food safety-based content, facilitate blended learning by hosting workshops in-person or online, maintain and develop the back-end of our learning management system, and support our customers by coordinating and managing enquiries.

Mōu - About You
As we are looking for two Advisers, we would welcome applicants with experience in one of the following areas:
*
- Learning and development background with an interest in understanding and supporting the food safety system
- Food science/technology background with an interest in learning and development

If you meet either of the above criteria, please state in your cover letter which position aligns with your skillset and what interests you and why.

**Ideally, you will have some of these skills and experience**:

- A background in either food or other related science, food technology, training, learning and development.
- Experience in, and a passion for, supporting adult learning to build capability.
- Experience gathering, organising, analysing, summarising and communicating scientific and legislative requirements to adult learners to enhance their knowledge, skills and aptitude.
- Ability to build relationships and gain the support and participation of others.
- A team player with a can-do attitude, acting on your initiative.

If you enjoy turning technical and behavioural content into fun, exciting and effective learning programmes, are a confident speaker, and want to support the food industry, then come and join us

Mō tō mātou Rōpū - About the Team

New Zealand Food Safety plays an important role in setting the rules and creating the systems that food businesses use to grow, import, make and sell safe food to consumers both here and overseas.
The work of the Food Regulation Directorate strongly contributes to our country's public health, economic, and wellbeing outcomes. We ensure that food is safe and suitable, consumers globally can trust food produced in New Zealand and make informed choices, food businesses can thrive and innovate within a fit-for-purpose regulatory framework, and overseas governments can have a high level of confidence and trust in our export assurances.
The Regulatory Capability team recognises that when asking our customers to develop new skills, do something differently or change a behaviour it isn't enough to expect people to ‘do as we say' without providing the ‘why'. We develop our products and services with our customers involving them from inception to delivery.
